My sensor is not repeated, what should I do ?

When a sensor is not repeated by the REPEATER, several options are possible.

It can come from a WhiteList not correctly configured, a wrong position of the sensor versus the REPEATER, a conflict between several transmissions of sensors or it can come from a bad network coverage of the REPEATER.

Verify:

  • the WhiteList
  • the positon of the sensors
  • the network coverage of the REPEATER
  • the transmission frequency of your sensors

Verify the WhiteList

Even if the REPEATER can work in "automatic mode" (the WhiteList is empty and the REPEATER repeat all the messages from device around), it is possible that it cannot detect the sensor concerned.

In this case, it is important to stop the automatic mode and configure the WhiteList to be sure that the sensor is correctly recognized and repeated.

If the REPEATER was not in automatic mode, it is advised to verify that the ID of the sensor is correctly entered in the WhiteList of the REPEATER.

To verify the Whitelist of a REPEATER, it is advised to use the REPEATER App (android or windows) put at your disposal by adeunis.

Verify the position of the sensors

If the sensor is too close or too far from the REPEATER, it can be not recognized. A distance should be respected between the REPEATER and the device: 2 meters minimum and 50 meters maximum in free field indoor, 300 meters maximum in free field outdoor.

To test the visibility of the product by the REPEATER, we advise you to follow the installation process using the reference transmitter (available in the installation kit) and the REPEATER App put at your disposal by adeunis.

Verify the network coverage of the REPEATER

To correctly repeat frames from devices, the REPEATER must be under the Sigfox network coverage while having the device in its perimeter.

Be sure that your REPEATER is under the Sigfox network and that the coverage is good.

PAY ATTENTION: the REPEATER does not create network where there is not. It extends the scope of the network on a given area. To test the coverage of the Sigfox network and verify that the REPEATER is correctly installed under Sigfox coverage, use the Field Test Device onsite (information directly on the screen) or verify the network data of the frame sent by your REPEATER on the Sigfox Backend. If the product is not under a good Sigfox coverage it will be necessary to move it.

If the network coverage is good, verify that the product is correctly seen by the REPEATER following the installation process that use the reference transmitter and the REPEATER App put at your disposal by adeunis. https://www.adeunis.com/produit/repeater-sigfox/

*For information, the Sigfox network coverage is considered as good if the following criteria are respected:  RSSI > -125 dBm and SNR > 20 dB

Verify the transmission frequency of your sensors

If the REPEATER is surrounded by many Sigfox products, it can be possible that several sensors are transmitting simultaneously. It can create collision on the REPEATER side, and in the better case, the REPEATER will be able to repeat only one of the 2 messages. This phenomenon, in noisy environments (with a lot of products), cannot be anecdotic.

It is so advised, when it is possible, to configure the product in order that they will not transmit at the same time to avoid or limit collisions.
